The "Ice Bucket Challenge" reaches Decorah

Luther College Sports Information Director Dave Blanchard is the latest to take the "Ice Bucket Challenge."

As of Wednesday, the ALS Association has received $31.5 million in donations compared to $1.9 million during the same time period last year.  The money received by the ALS Association will help them in their fight against Lou Gehrig's Disease.

Blanchard, however, had an additional reason to want to do the Ice Bucket Challenge.  Nick Huber was a Luther student who worked for Blanchard in Luther's sports information office before graduating in 2002.

After graduating, Nick was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease.  He died July 19, 2008 due to ALS.  Blanchard says he took the Ice Bucket Challenge in honor of Nick.
