The Trails From Freeport organization is trying to earn a $7,500 grant from Wellmark.

Wellmark is celebrating its 75th anniversary by giving away $7,500 to each of ten projects that improve the health and wellness of a community.  On-line voting runs  through Sunday, September 7th.  You may vote once per day, per computer ISP address.  The project is now referred to as a "freeport" project and the confusing reference to Ft. Atkinson has been erased!

A $7,500 award from Wellmark would help Trails from Freeport reach their fundraising goal to match a $1.6 million federal TIGER grant for the Freeport Trail and for several roads in the Freeport area.
A second round of bid letting for construction of the trail will take place in October. Depending on weather, construction could begin yet this fall, with the trail open for use by Fall of 2015.
