Will propane supplies hold up this fall?

Last January propane prices in Iowa reached nearly $5.00 per gallon.  The Iowa Department of Agriculture is urging farmers and homeowners who heat with propane to take steps now to protect themselves in case prices rise again this fall and winter.

State officials say you should top off propane tanks now to make sure propane supplies for grain drying, livestockfacilities, homes and machine sheds are full going into the fall season.

Take advantage of early buy/booking programs, the state says--and consider expanding on-site capacity at facilities andhomes.  Propane sellers serving NE Iowa have told decorahnews.com that a number of their customers are switching to 1,000 gallon propane tanks, adding storagecapacity and taking advantage of the current relatively low price of propane.
