decorahnews.com series: "You Said It Your Way"--City departments

The City of Decorah's various departments get strong approval ratings from the public in the on-line surveying just completed by the city.

Almost all the department received approval from at least 3 out of 4 people answering the survey.  For instance, 90 percent of the survey respondents said they were pleased overall with the Park-Rec Department.  88 percent said the Decorah Public Library was doing a good job (with another 10 percent having no opinion and only 2 percent critical).

Some survey respondents grumbled about Decorah police officers being "too aggressive" in their enforcement, but those were a definite minority--88 percent of those taking the survey said they were satisfied with the police department's performance.

The Decorah Fire Department got 69 percent approval, but there was a reason for their lower rating--27 percent said they had no opinion because they never had any contact with the fire department, which is probably for the better.

So which part of City of Decorah government draws the most criticism from the public?  We'll answer that question on Thursday.
