Winneshiek Energy District looking for Green Iowa workers

Posted: Tue, Aug 12, 2014 4:50 PM

Winneshiek Energy District has begun recruiting for new Green Iowa Americorps team members.  The organization is hoping to find five enthusiastic and committed individuals to work on directly reducing energy use in the area.

The work ranges from "getting your hands dirty" helping households become more energy efficiency through direct install and weatherization efforts, to organizing community engagement events such as bike to work, trout ski, school activities, and community workshops.

Green Iowa workers receive a very flexible education grant of over $5,500 upon successful completion of their 10-month service.  The 2014-15 Green Iowa Americorps term begins in September, and this will be the fifth cycle hosted by the Energy District in Decorah.

"Do good, get paid, have fun, start a career or test the waters" says Energy District Director Andy Johnson.

Interested individuals should contact Johnson for more information at 382-4207, extension 1, or at andy@energydistrict.org. More information about the Direct Install program can be found at http://energydistrict.org/programs/green-iowa-americorps-direct-install/, and in the video library at http://energydistrict.org/resources/video-library/.
