The Winneshiek County Community Foundation now has a total of $2.26 million in assets, according to WCCF Chair Gary Mineart.  Mineart talked to the Decorah Lions Club recently about the works of the the foundation.

The Winneshiek County Community Foundation (WCCF) was organized in 1997 and became affiliated with the Northeast Iowa Community Foundation in 2005 when Iowa gaming proceeds became available to community foundations.  This year it distributed over $200,000 to area organizations.

Mineart explained that the WCCF provides a convenient way for philanthropists to fund local non-profit organizations, community betterment projects and education throughout Winneshiek County. There are several fund options available to donors including: Community Impact Funds, Donor Advised Funds, Field of Interest Funds, Designated Funds Scholarship Funds and Agency Endowment Funds.

The WCCF gives individuals, families, organizations and businesses a way to channel gifts to a variety of charitable causes without having to form their own foundations, manage assets and incurring the related expenses.

Gary urged prospective donors to contact the WCCF's philanthropic advisor, Jim Anderson, at winneshiekccf@gmail.com or 563.380.7451.
