Seven graduate students from the University of Minnesota have developed a "solar suitability map" of the state--showing the places best suited for solar energy.
The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that the southernmost counties in Minnesota are the most optimal area for solar energy projects. The newspaper quotes one researcher as saying the area "Is a flatter sapce, further south, with fewer trees."
An interactive map is available on-line at www.maps.umn.edu/solar. The map shows the area near Harmony in Fillmore County is especially suited to solar energy projects.
