Decorah man drowns in Upper Iowa River

A Decorah man has died in a drowning in the Upper Iowa River.  The body of 25-year-old Matthew Lundt of Decorah was recovered near Dunning Springs around 10:30 Wednesday.

Decorah Police say they received a 9-1-1 call around 8:15 Wednesday night from a woman who said her friend had gone under the water of the Upper Iowa River near the College Drive Bridge and did not resurface.

Police officers, sheriff's deputies and firefighters were dispatched to the river between the College Drive Bridge and the Fifth Street Bridge and located the victim after a two hour search.
