South Winneshiek High School agriscience teacher Melissa Brincks has completed professional training in order to teach an introductory course section of the "Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education."
CASE is an agricultural instructional system that equips teachers to elevate student experiences in the agriculture classroom, and prepares students for success in college and careers emphasizing STEM: science, technology, engineering and math.
"The curriculum makes me a better teacher and lets my classroom focus on project-based learning," said Brincks. The curriculum eliminates textbooks, tests and lectures and instead aims at teaching real life skills that students will use outside of high school in both agricultural and non-agricultural fields.
Currently there are over 665 National CASE Certified teachers in one or more CASE areas. After this summer, that number will double to over 1,200 teachers certified in CASE nationwide.
