Bald eagle fans take steps to memorialize "D18"

The video streaming of the Decorah eagles' nest has not only created a lot of interest--it has created a lot of passion, too.

The latest signs of that passion are now on display in Decorah.  Several supporters of the young eagle "D18," which was electrocuted recently, have left flowers and notes on the fence of the Decorah Yard Waste Site--the place where D18 had taken to staying.

A more permanent memorial is going up at the Decorah Fish Hatchery.  One bald eagle fan who wishes to remain anonymous has donated money for a park bench at the Hatchery--in honor of D18.

A plaque on the bench says the bench is in memory of D18 and ends with the message "Gone Too Soon--Missed But Not Forgotten."
