What's it like to try to drive while under the influence of alcohol or other drugs?  A number of summer school driving students last week got a chance to try the driving simulator owned by the Governor's TrafficSafety Bureau.

The North Winneshiek Drivers Educationclass also hadstudents from Decorah and South Winneshiek attending.

Drivers education students used the driving simulatorwith and without what are called "fatal vision goggles," which give students a real life drivingsimulation to get a feel for driving while impaired.  Students were also askedto do reenactments of field sobriety evaluations, and assemble puzzles while wearing the special goggles.

Two officials of the Governor'sTraffic Safety Bureau--Mick Mulhern and Jennifer Parsons--joined Winneshiek County Sheriff's Deputy Tim Felton to bring the driving simulator to North Winneshiek School.
