On Thursday night the Oneota Co-op Board of Directors voted 6-0 to enter into a purchase agreement for the adjoining property at 308 West Water, referred to as the "Cutting Building." The action was taken following both an executive session, and then a public member meeting. Only about half a dozen members attended the open informational session before the vote was taken.
The open space in the property is currently leased by the COOP and the transaction, to be completed today, will transfer ownership on January 1. The Prudential office will continue to operate in its current location until next June. Currently there are two rental units above the property, basement space, the Prudential office, and the empty space formerly occupied by the Nail Spa.
The expansion will allow for more office, retail, deli, deli seating, meeting/classroom space, as well as multiple opportunities to improve on storage and refrigeration needs. Activity is already underway to prepare the new property.
