Two injured in two-vehicle accident Wednesday on Highway 9

Decorah Police responded to a two vehicle accident on Highway 9 at Ridgewood Drive shortly after 1:00 Wednesday afternoon.

Police say 53-ear-old Julie Shimek of Spillville was slowing to turn left onto Ridgewood Drive when her car was hit from behind by a vehicle driven by 55-year-old Daniel Schneider of Winona, Minnesota.

Shimek's vehicle was pushed down an embankment on the north side of Highway 9, coming to rest several hundred yards from the road.

Both Shimek and Schneider were taken to Winneshiek Medical Center by ambulance.  Schneider was ticketed for following too close.  The accident did $19,000 worth of damages.
