The Iowa Department of Transportation offers a sign replacement program called the "All Town Sign Replacement Program" which gives grants to communities in the state for traffic sign replacement.
The City of Decorah is working on $3,876 a grant application that asks for 75 street signs and 51 posts. The city typically budgets around $7,500 of its own money each year on signs.
The grants are awarded on a "first come, first served" basis by the Iowa DOT.
