Luther College staff members Michael Bartels and Karen Dallenbach have been named the recipients of the Luther Staff Excellence Award for 2014.
The Staff Excellence Award recognizes exemplary performance by staff members who consistently excel in their positions and demonstrate integrity and a strong commitment to the mission and values of Luther.
As part of the award, each recipient will be granted an individualized educational opportunity, funded by the college. Luther works with award winners to pursue an opportunity in an area of special interest.
Bartels serves as a graphic designer in the Publications department. Dallenbach serves as an accounting assistant in the Office for Financial Services.
Bartels is responsible for crafting the appearances of Luther's promotional materials. His works give many prospective students and the general public their first impressions of the college, making him a key member of the marketing team.
Dallenbach has worked for Financial Services for more than 35 years. During her time as an accounting assistant, she has fielded numerous financial decisions for the campus, interacting with thousands of students, faculty and staff over the years. She has been instrumental in streamlining financial processes at Luther, including promoting the switch from paper checks to electronic payments for major vendors, a change that saves time and resources.
