Business is booming at the City of Decorah's Pulpit Rock Campground. Through the first three months of the season, the campground has brought in $85,515 in fees--a 9 percent increase over the same period in 2013.
And July and August are typically the busiest months at the campground. Campground Superintendent Sue Macal says there are already plenty of spaces that are occupied--even at the beginning of this week.
One of those spots was taken up by Bosko Jugovic and his son, Daniel, from Ankeny. They have been making the three-and-a-half hour ride from Ankeny for years now. "The drive is worth it," says Bosko. The two go trout fihsing on North Bear Creek, along Trout Run and at the Fish Hatchery.
Bosko says the campground is beautiful, clean and quiet. Daniel is even more direct: "I love this place!" he says.
