Revenues are increasing at Winneshiek Medical Center--but expenses are increasing faster.

The latest revenue figures from Winneshiek Medical Center show good news on the revenue side.

For instance, revenues from home health crae visits this year are up 59 percent over budget.  Revenue from visits to the WMC Clinic is up by 18 percent.  Several other programs have double-digit increases.

For the first 10 months of the hospital's fiscal year, operating revenues have totaled $41,800,918.  That represents a 7.5 percent increase over 2013-2104.

Unfortunately, expenses during that same 10 month period were up by 9.1 percent--a total of $41,156,213.

Winneshiek Medical Center Chief Financial Officer Lynn Luloff says it's her projection that the hospital will end its fiscal year in two months showing an operating gain of just half of what had been budgeted for the year.

The major problem facing the hospital is that outpatient services continue to do well, but the use of hospital beds for inpatient care continues to drop.
