Car strikes Luther College sign during a driving lesson gone wrong

Ouch!

Most of us, when we were learning how to drive, were fortunate to have a friend or relative who was willing to help us.

On Saturday around noon, 22-year-old Nyaradzo Nzvume of Decorah turned to his friend, Jose Antonio Gomez, for help in learning how to drive.  The two got into Gomez's 2007 Chrysler Sebring and started Nvume's lesson.

But Nvume lost control of the car as he tried turning from College Drive into the entrance of Luther College.  Not only that, but he hit to entrance sign, causing some damage.  Gomez's car suffered $4,000 in damages.

Police--perhaps recalling their own first attempts at driving--decided to not press charges in the accident.

It's the second time the Luther sign has been damaged.
