A series of free, weekly hands-on summer programs for kids ages 10 and older begins on Monday at the Decorah Public Library.
Monday's program at 3:00 p.m. centers on starting a fire without matches, "Tinder and Poof" is a chance to use a bow drill and friction to "coax heat into wood dust" which then becomes a "coal" to start tinder to spark. The program is suitable for anyone age 10 and older, including curious adults. All materials will be provided.
Next MOnday's program will be "The Great, Whacky, Everything-Is-Connected Postcard Project." There will be a June 18th evening showing of the film "The Whale." Monday, June 23rd's program is "Build Your Own Rocket Stove." Monday, June 30th's program is "Felting: Suds 'N Fuzz."
