The Decorah School Board has voted 4-1 to give the school district's Director of Buildings and Grounds, Greg Schaller, a $7,955 pay raise.
School Superintendent Mike Haluska says even with his new salary of $57,500 a year, Schaller still earns less than similar administrators at other Northeast Iowa Conference school districts.
On Wednesday the school board also approved contracts which called for a 3.43 percent overall package increase for the other district administrators
School board members also promised Wednesday that they will study how their pay structure for the job compares with the pay packages from similar school districts. School board vice chair Melanie Tietz--who was the lone dissenting vote Wednesday--still said she supported the study, adding "There's a lot (of details) we don't know."
