Decorah 8th graders plant trees in city parks

Eighth grade students from Decorah Middle School have taken part in the school's annual tree planting project.

This year the middle school joined with the Decorah Parks and Recreation Department to plant trees in two of Decorah's city parks.

The students planted approximately 650 trees in Van Peenen Park on the north side of Decorah.  An additional 16 trees were planted in the Vennehjem addition, where a new city park is being built.

DMS eighth grade students have been planting trees as part of the science curriculum for over 25 years.
