Special law enforcement program starts Monday

Iowa law enforcement agencies will be participating in the national "Click It or Ticket" campaign from Monday, May 19th through Sunday, June 1st.

Decorah Police Officer David Smutzler says the two seconds it takes to buckle up when entering a car increases your odds of surviving a crash by nearly 50 percent.

Last year Iowa had three traffic fatalities during the Memorial Day holiday--two of which were alcohol-related.

Statewide police officers wrote 31,480 tickets for traffic violations.

The Decorah Police Department's next Special Traffic Enforcement Program will be from July 1st through July 7th.
