ArtHaus is beginning an apprentice program for teens

Posted: Sun, May 18, 2014 6:10 PM

ArtHaus is introducing an apprenticeship program for students aged 13-16 living in Winneshiek and surrounding counties.

Apprentices will be encouraged to develop their own artistic expression, explore arts entrepreneurship and learn by mentoring younger artists.

Apprentices will meet twice weekly to receive personalized instruction by professional artists. They will also have a chance serve as teaching assistants, learning through helping younger children in ArtHaus classes. Participating in community arts events hosted by ArtHaus will offer Apprentices a chance to practice leadership skills, gain confidence, and build community through the arts.

There is a $200 fee for the program, but financial assistance is available upon request thanks to the ArtHaus Youth Scholarship Fund.  Applications are available at www.arthausdecorah.org, or by calling 563.382.5440, and are due July 15th.  Students are encouraged to contact ArtHaus before July 15 with questions.

The program is supported through funding from West Bend Mutual Insurance Independent Agents Fund and RC&D Employee Giving Fund.
