iVantage Health Analytics has named Winneshiek Medical Center to its list of the 2013 Top Critical Access Hospitals in the country. There are over 1,300 Critical Access Hospitals nationwide.
It's the second time WMC has been named to the list. iVantage also gives a rating along with naming hospitals to the list. In 2011 that rating was around 64 percent, while in 2013 that rating jumped to nearly 90 percent.
The rating is the industry's most comprehensive rating of US acute care hospitals, and the only one to include all of the country's 1,300 CAHs. The results recognize that the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals provide a safety net to communities across rural America – measuring them across 66 different performance metrics, including quality, outcomes, patient perspective, affordability, population risk and efficiency.
