Luther College is announcing the winners of its "Launching Luther Leaders Award." The awards are given in recognition of student leadership and service.
This year there were more than 30 nominations for the four award categories.
The winner of the "Outstanding Organization Award" was the Luther College Dance Marathon, which raised over $38,000 in donations to help provide emotional and financial support to families treated by the Children's Miracle Network.
The winner of the "Outstanding Student Leader Award" is 2014 graduate Paul Esker, who served on the Student Senate and was active in the presidential search committee.
The winner of the "Outstanding Event or Activity Award" was the Immigration Panel sponsored by HOLA and Enlaces, which focused on educating the Luther and Decorah community on how immigrants play a role in enriching the economy and culture.
Finally, the winner of the "Outstanding Service Project Award" was the Postville English as a Second Language classes, sponsored by HOLA and Enlaces. The students involved in this program tutor adult immigrant students in ESL as well as GED classes two to three nights a week in Postville.
