(Recently Paul Scott asked in a comment "Do we live in a dangerous world?" http://www.decorahnews.com/news-stories/2014/05/8159.html Several decorahnews.com readers responded):
Gail e-mailed: "I would be interested in knowing how many people who carry guns for their personal safety, always wear their seat belts and bike or motorcycle helmets."
Dale responded: "I don't believe we live in a world that is any more dangerous to us, than it was in the time of our ancestors. The dangers may be different, but because of the media we have now, we are more aware of what is going on anywhere in the world, almost instantly! What I do find interesting, is that law makers pass laws to ban guns in the State Capitol Building, but then don't believe those laws apply to them!"
Kari answered: "Most of the people who carry weapons, if accosted, would be either hurt or killed, and maybe from their own weapon. Even though they have taken a short class, and fired a gun at a target, certainly has no value to pulling the trigger with another human in the sights. Most will fail that test, and be wounded or killed. Then there are the people like the guy who shot the two young boys, just because they entered his house. We are heading into dangerous times, and It scares me to see all of these people carrying weapons, who are ready to defend themselves, without knowing what laws are being broken, which constitute shooting and killing another."
