North Winneshiek dropping two sports

Due to low participation, the North Winneshiek girls' volleyball and girls' basketball programs will be discontinued for the 2014-2015 school year.  The North Winneshiek School Board approved the recommendation Monday night.

In the fall, North Winneshiek middle school girls will have the opportunity to participate in volleyball at either Mabel-Canton or Decorah.  They will also have the opportunity to run on the cross country team in Decorah. 

In the winter, North Winneshiek middle school girls will have the opportunity to participate in basketball at either Mabel-Canton or Decorah. 

There will be enough boys to have a North Winneshiek middle school boys' basketball team for next school year.
