Winneshiek County Board is opposing new EPA regulations

The Winneshiek County Board has joined county government leaders from across the country in opposing proposed new U.S. EPA regulations that would give the agency final authority to regulate any issue involving water in the United States.  Additionally, the regulations would expand the current definition of "navigable waters" to include almost every type of water in the U.S.

Winneshiek County Engineer Lee Bjerke says the rules--if they go into effect--would lead to "confusion, delays and increased costs."

The Winneshiek County Board voted 4-0 Monday to sign a proclamation called on the EPA to cancel its proposal.
