Decorah Public Library has received a donation of clothes for the American Girl dolls from Phyllis Arendt of Decorah.
The doll clothes come in decorative boxes and can be checked out for three weeks with no renewal to children eight years and older who have a library card, no fines and no overdue materials. Children may check out a box of clothes along with one of the six American Girl dolls in the library collection--Kaya, Kit, Kirsten, Elizabeth, Felicity or Marie-Grace--all historically dressed for the period of history they represent.
When asked how she became interested in making doll clothes for the library, Phyllis said, "My son, Bruce, is on the library board. He told me about the American Girl doll collection at the library and said they probably needed doll clothes."
Questions regarding the American Girl doll collection at the library may be directed to children's librarian, Sally Stromseth, by calling the library at 563-382-3717 or by emailing childrens@decorah.lib.ia.us
