City of Decorah continues to work towards developing a building code

The Decorah City Council might be presented with a proposed city building code as early as by the end of this summer.

City Administrator Chad Bird says he met recently with contractors, plumbers, electricians and other trade members to discuss building codes.  The meeting "was a good learning process," Bird told Decorah City Council members Monday evening.

Bird says he will use those comments in drafting a proposed building code.  But first a "more public" meeting for the general public will be held in July to get additional comments.
