Ribbon cutting ceremonies

The Spectrum Network held its grand opening Friday of its new thrift store at 107 West Broadway Street in the former Wonder/Hostess Outlet.  A ribbon cutting by the Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce took place at 10 a.m. and various Spectrum Network staff members worked at T-Bock's Sports Bar & Grill in downtown Decorah, with a portion of proceeds going to The Spectrum Network.

The Thrift Store opening will also have cookies, coffee and refreshments provided by Sodexo and K'uun Coffee.  Raffle tickets are being sold for a chance to win a 10-foot Pelican Quest100 kayak.  Tickets are one for $5 or five for $20 and the drawing will be held on Thursday, May 22nd.  Tickets are available at The Spectrum Network, Spectrum Thrift Store in Decorah and Cresco, T-Bock's Sports Bar & Grill and Northeast Security Bank in Decorah.  Only 1,000 tickets will be sold and all proceeds benefit the mission of The Spectrum Network.

Spectrum Thrift Store is Phase I of the three phase business plan for the building, with the other two phases consisting of a food aggregation & cold storage unit and a future commercial grade community kitchen.  When all phases are complete, several new positions will have been created in an integrated employment workplace.
