Special report: Final notes on church mission trips

(decorahnews.com is wrapping up its discussion of changing attitudes about the proper ways to do church mission trips)

Some Decorah churches are abandoning brick and mortar mission projects in favor of being in fellowship with members of other churches overseas or in poorer areas of the United States.  But the discussion continues over whether this new approach is better than the previous approach to mission trips.

Decorah residents will get a chance to discuss the issue next Monday with someone who believes fellowship programs are best.  Sister Parish Executive Director Carrie Stengel will speak at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Northeast Iowa Peace & Justice Center, describing how the organization works toward social justice in Guatemala and El Salvador.  She will show a film and will lead a discussion following the film.
