Sewer and water rates in the City of Decorah would increase just under two percent under a proposal being studied by the Decorah City Council.
That means property owners would pay $20.28 for the first 500 cubic feet or fraction thereof that they use--and increase of 38 cents. Other increases would be applied for additional usage.
Sewer rates would become $22.26 per service quarter plus $2.04 per
hundred cubic feet of residential, commercial, institutional and industrial water use.
City officials say the water and sewer funds are still "precarious" and need an annual adjustment to keep pace with not only rising costs but to establish funds needed for emergency repairs and small capital
improvement projects.
