The Decorah Parks and Recreation Board has wrapped up its study of a proposed community center and is forwarding its information to the Decorah City Council.
Meeting Thursday night, the Parks Board approved a resolution that recommended that the city council "move forward" on the issue. While the proposed community center would be a project involving the Park Board, it is the City Council that has the power to spend money and to authorize a bond referendum, if the city council decides one is needed.
Supporters of the community center proposal say Decorah is a large enough town to support such a facility. Park Board members have also discussed having a joint city/school district facility.
