Prescription drug drop off scheduled for April 26th

Posted: Wed, Apr 16, 2014 6:04 PM

The Decorah Police Department, Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department and Northeast Iowa Narcotics Task Force have announced they will conduct a free prescription drug drop off on Saturday, April 26th.

The public will be able to clean out their medicine cabinets and take their old prescription drugs to either Thrifty White Pharmacy at 702 Montgomery Street or Wal-Mart at 1798 Old Stage Road from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. April 26th.

The prescription drug drop-off is aimed at keeping people from flushing old medicines down the toilet or throwing them down their sinks.  Doing that leads to drug contamination in our water and soil.

Contact Dave Smutzler at the Decorah Police Department (563-382-3667) or Gordon Buss at the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department (563-382-4268) with any questions.
