Three Decorah students recognized in creative writing contest

2014 Iowa Reading Association Creative Writing Contest Winners

Three students in the Decorah Community School District have been named winners in two contests sponsored by the Iowa Reading Association. 

In the Iowa Reading Association Creative Writing Contest, third grade student Jaden Baker of Carrie Lee Elementary was a third place winner with "The Narrow Escape from a Turkey's Point of View", and ninth grade student Robert Berger of Decorah High School was a first place winner with "Big Brother Is Watching".  Third grade student Sophia Lewey was a third place winner in the Iowa Reading Association Poetry Contest with "A Walk in the Woods with Daddy".

Jaden is the son of James and Wendy Baker, and Sophia is the daughter of Greg and Mari Lewey.  Both are students of Stacy Knight.  Robert is the son of Ruth Berger and is a student of Dana Hogan.
