Springfield Lutheran Church, in partnership with the Luther College Nursing Department, is offering a series of informational meetings at three consecutive Tuesday mornings beginning this Tuesday.
The meeting will discuss various topics related to the care of people entering different stages and circumstances in their lives or those of parents, grandparents or other family members. Many times, major changes occur if a person experiences an accident or illness that does not allow them to function independently. When this happens, all of a sudden caregivers are thrust into situations where critical decisions need to be made quickly Then there is a frantic rush to try to determine how best to proceed with adequate and effective care for the loved one and their family. Unless caregivers and family members have had previous conversations about these issues, it can be a difficult and frustrating time for everyone.
These meetings have been planned and will be presented by students of the Luther College Nursing Department. The students are being given this opportunity to gain experience as a parish nurse in their communities. They will also be involved in the lives of both Springfield and Calmar Lutheran Churches, providing blood pressure readings on April 6th (Calmar) and April 13th (Springfield).
