Chingwel Mutumbu to speak on "First Step Initiative"

The director of an organization which provides grants and loans to women in the Democratic Republic of Congo has announced plans to return to Decorah in April.  Chingwel Mutumbu is a 1996 graduate of Decorah High School and a 2000 graduate of Luther College, as well as a recipient of the college's annual Young Alumni Award in recognition of her outstanding achievements.
 
Mutumbo founded "First Step Initiative" with the goal of helping residents
of the Democratic Republic of Congo to establish enterprises that support their families and pay their children's school fees.
 
She will return to Decorah Friday, April 11th, and will attend a reception
for her at the DeNovo Barn, 2214 Madison Road, Decorah, hosted by executivevboard members of First Step Initiative.  Hors d'oeuvres and beverages willvbe served.  Chingwel will speak.  The event, which will run from 6:00--9:00 p.m., will be open to the public.  For the organizers to have an estimate ofvhow many people plan to attend please contact Barb Dale at 382-4693, but no registration or advance notice is required.
