OHFA secretary/treasurer: We intend to repay Winneshiek County

The secretary/treasurer of the Oneota Historic Future Alliance, Deborah Bishop, says her group intends to pay money to Winneshiek County.

Oneota Historic Future Alliance signed an agreement with Winneshiek County that if it could not find a tenant for the Caretaker's House on the Wellington Place grounds, the organization would pay for the costs of demolishing that building.

On Monday, Winneshiek County supervisors told County Attorney Andy Van der Maaten to send a letter to the group, stating that it still owed the county $9,600.

Bishop says in an e-mail to decorahnews.com, "As our organization is selling the reclaimed materials from the demolition of East Side School now, we will have money to pay our debt to the County over time.  We will be able to set up a payment based on our sales of our materials."
