Mentoring bowl-a-thon was a big success

Officials of Helping Services for Northeast Iowa are calling Saturday's Mentoring Bowl-a-thon in Decorah a big success.

Approximately 80 bowlers consisting of 22 teams participated in the benefit for mentoring programs in Allamakee, Howard, and Winneshiek Counties.  Bowlers were both kids and adults and came from Calmar, Clermont, Cresco, Decorah, Ossian, Ridgeway, and Waukon. 

Mentoring program supporters had set a fundraising goal of $13,000 in donations to support the mentoring mission of providing positive adult role-models for youths ages 5 to 16.  Teams and individuals bowlers raised much more than the goal--$17,000 in donations.
