The winter of 2013-2014 has now moved into 4th place on the list of coldest winters since records began being kept.

Thestreak of days when the high temperature in Decorah did not reach 50 degrees will be at 127 days long as of Monday, with last Friday's high getting close, but being officially 48 degrees.

The last day the "official" Decorah thermometer reached at least50 degrees F was November 17th, 2013 when the maximum temperature for the day was59 degrees, according to Decorah weather observer Richard Bernatz.  The official temperature reading for Decorah has not reached the50-degree mark since.

The third-longest streak of days without reaching 50 degrees, was 130 days and the second-longest was 132 days, says Bernatz.  itis likely, based on temperature predictions, the current streak will climb toa tie for second longest.

Fortunately, with a prediction of highs in the low 60s on Sunday, Decorah will NOT break the all-time record.  To tie for the longest streak, the temperaturewould need to remain sub-50 through April 12th.
