On March 20, representatives of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church presented a check for $4,822.00 to the Decorah Community Free Clinic at First Lutheran Church. During the fall of 2013, Good Shepherd celebrated the 25th anniversary of its expanded building which is the church as seen today on Iowa Avenue in Decorah's west side. The Decorah Community Free Clinic was chosen as the focus for a local area mission outreach gift; Lutheran Immigration Service (LIRS) is the national Lutheran organization to receive funds.
Bill Deutsch, Decorah Community Free Clinic board president, spoke at two Good Shepherd worship services in October about the work of the Clinic, its staff and volunteers, and patients. Deutsch commented, "The Free Clinic appreciates all types of community support – individual, faith community, and corporate. This and all gifts will continue to be used to meet the needs of un- and under-insured people of our area."
