Police say their Special Traffic Enforcement Program went well

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department and Decorah Police Department say their St. Patrick's Day weekend "Special Traffic Enforcement Program" went well.

The enforcement wave resulted in a combined 79 additional traffic citations that included two drunk deriving arrests, four arrest warrants served, three interdiction searches and four narcotics arrests.

Police also say that seat belt usage was at 89 percent in the county and 83 percent in the city before the STEP and 93.4 percent in the county and 90 percent in the city after the STEP.
