One more thing that has been affected by the bitter winter weather—Girl Scout cookie sales!
The Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois has announced customers will have more time to purchase Girl Scout cookies and girls will have extended time to reach their goals. The Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois' cookie sale has been extended to March 30th. "Many Girl Scouts in eastern Iowa and western Illinois had a rough time reaching their sales goals due to the frigid temperatures and massive snow storms brought about this winter," says chief operating officer Nikki Habben.
"This winter has been nasty," Habben added. "Cookie booths struggled because of fewer people out shopping, and in some instances, it was so cold the girls canceled the booth altogether." In addition to booth sales, ice, snow and frigid temperatures have hampered the Girl Scouts door-to-door selling.
