Decorah man considering a plea bargain agreement in sex abuse case

Plea bargain negotiations are underway between prosecutors and the lawyer for 35-year-old Jerome Sanderson of Decorah.

Sanderson is charged with five county of 3rd Degree Sexual Abuse for allegedly engaging in sex acts with a 14-15 year old victim during a relationship that lasted from the fall of 2012 through the summer of 2013.

At a pretrial appearance in court this week, lawyers mentioned the possible plea agreement.  The judge in the case has scheduled a deadline of April 4th for completing depositions in the case and a hearing on May 6th to determine whether Sanderson is accepting the plea agreement.
