Decorah student recognized at Dorian Honor Band Festival

Decorah High School musician Maleah Garwood has been recognized at the Dorian Honor Band Festival at Luther College.  Garwood, who plays the euphonium, was one of four soloists selected for Honorable Mention at the Festival.  She is a senior and is the daughter of Deb and Mike Schacherer of Decorah.

14 Decorah High School band members participated in the 65th Annual Dorian Honor Band Festival at Luther College.  Representing DHS in the highly select Symphonic Band were Clara Kittleson (principal flautist), Brenna Herrmann (oboist), Kelly Minear (clarinetist), Maleah Garwood (principal euphoniumist), and Fred Paulson (tubist). 

In the "49ers Band" were Alissa Kozelka (bass clarinetist), Ashley Schwartzhoff  (alto saxophonist), Carl Iverson (trumpeter), and Emma Dambek (trombonist). 

In the "Sycamore Band" were Skye Kelley (flautist), Courtney Olson (oboist), Miles Wilkie (clarinetist), Tyler Lubke (trumpeter), and Will Yahr (French hornist).
