The Decorah Public Library now has available copies of Nathaniel Philbrick's "Mayflower: A Story of Courage, Community, and War." The book will be discussed at a meeting of the history book group Thursday, March 20th, on the 2nd floor of the library. he special 2-hour discussion (6-8 p.m.) will also include postponed February book, "Wars of the Roses."
How did America begin? Philbrick describes not only the voyage of the Mayflower and the settlement of Plymouth Colony, but the five decades that followed the ship's landing, revealing new information about the story of the Pilgrims.
The history book group usually meets at 6:30 p.m. on the third or fourth Thursday of each month; newcomers are always welcome. The group will discuss "The Worst Hard Time" by Timothy Egan at 6:30 p.m. Thursday April 17th.
