The Decorah Community School Board has reviewed the proposed 2014-15 budget from Superintendent Mike Haluska. The budget of $29,283,609 represents over a $3M decrease, mostly related to facilities and construction costs. It also represents approximately a 60cents/$1000 decrease in taxes, with the new taxable valuation decreasing to $15.09857 per $1,000 taxable valuation.
It was noted that the proposed property tax levy would be lower than when construction began on the high school renovation.
A public hearing is set for April 14, 6:00 p.m., prior to final approval of the budget by the School Board.
