Ask Mr. Answer Person: "How long will we have to continue running water from our faucets?"

Peter e-mails Mr. Answer Person: "What is the latest on the "keep your faucets running" issue? How long will we need to do it and how will the city charge residents for all the extra water usage?"

Mr. Answer Person says: "Until further notice!  Yes, the weather is getting warmer now.  But that doesn't mean the threat of broken water pipes has ended.  In fact, frost depths can often get LOWER when the weather improves slightly.  We learned about this from Iowa's State Climatologist, Harry Hillaker, in a story we posted last month (http://www.decorahnews.com/archived-stories/2014/02/7466.html

So the word from the Decorah Water Department is "Don't do anything differently until we issue another notice."  If you're worried about the cost of continuing to run water from your faucet, you can contact Decorah City Hall or the Decorah Water Department.
