Believe it or not, Decorah hasn't been the coldest area town this winter

The National Weather Service Office has published a list of the number of days the temperature has been below zero in area towns--and, believe it or not, Decorah does NOT top the list.

As a matter of fact, Decorah is tied for 22nd place!  Not that 46 days with sub-zero temperatures is a small total.  But other communities have recorded sub-zero temperatures for an even greater number of days.  Elkader and Preston, Minnesota have had 49 such days.  Osage and Caledonia, Minnesota have had 51 subzero days.  Cresco has had 54 subzero days.

The highest total of sub-zero days in southeast Minnesota, Northeast IAowa and western Wisconsin this winter has been Medford, Wisconsin--with 63 days where the temperature did not hit zero.
